The Crucible by Arthur Miller is an allegory for the red scare in the mccarthyism era because people are accused, framed, and lives are ruined. The events that had taken place in the salem witch trials and the mccarthy era were very interesting and shady.People being accused of being a witch or a communist, People framing others, and lives are ruined. Anyone during the salem witch trials could accuse anyone of being a witch and they had little to no chance of being not guilty in the court. “I saw Goody Proctor with the devil!” someone explaining what they saw goody do and telling others about it which was hearsay and may not of been 100% true.

During the mccarthyism era accusations were present when Joseph Mccarthy accused a lot of people of being communist “claims that he has a list with the names of over 200 members of the Department of State that are known communists”. When inturn the names on the list were never released and many speculate that there were no names on that list “despite McCarthy’s inconsistency, his refusal to provide any of the names of the “known communists,” and his inability to produce any coherent or reasonable evidence, his charges struck a chord with the American people.
