What method was best for William to control England?

The best method of control for William was the Feudal System.

The Feudal system was where William The Conqueror gave land to the barons, which then gave land to the knights (whilst the knights often fighted for William when needed).
Then, the peasants got land from the knights because they traded crops with them. Evidence of the Feudal system is found in an image of when a knight swears an oath to be loyal to the king:

And in a quote by Earl Warenne, when he was asked by a judge to show his warrant: "Look at this, my lords, this is my warrant! As well as this, the feudal system made sure people would be loyal to the king, so everyone would have a job to do in return of something that benefits the king. It gave William more money and taxes using the feudal system because if it wasn’t running, people could lie and steal the land and William wouldn’t know. William also wouldn’t be given crops by the peasants or have knights to fight without this system, so he wouldn’t have as much food or help in battle.

The Harrying of the North also didn’t help his reign as it only scared English citizens and made them fear
