Why Do Some People Respond to Drugs Differently than Others? Some people may wonder why people react differently to drugs if they are taking the same drug, shouldn’t it give the same effect and not cause anyone any harmful effects or just cause good effects, after all drugs were created for helping people not hurting them. Well first thing first. What is an adverse reaction? An adverse reaction is basically any unexpected or dangerous reaction to a drug, or really any effect that is not intended to by the drug on a patient. An adverse reaction may be sudden or develop over time, it is also called an adverse drug event (ADE), adverse drug reaction (ADR), adverse effect or an adverse event. People respond differently to drugs because of genes or simply because of things such as environments, lifestyles, age or eating habits, after all humans are not the same and we all have different body types and have different lives that we live differently. Humans also have very specific gene codes that are known as DNA which shape what qualities we have as a human being, such as hair type, hair color, eye color, skin color, etc.

Some ways it could react badly would be by metabolizing it too fast, processing it incorrectly, or having a toxic effect on the actual organs themselves. Such as the liver, skin, kidney, heart and even the muscle, these toxic effects can do great damage to the organs, so much so that it can cause bad cardiac function and even be so bad that you may need an organ
