INTRODUCTION The goal of this research is to find if there is a correlation between gendered toys and how a person feels about their gender later in life. I expect that if a child primarily played with gendered toys in childhood, they will struggle to feel comfortable identifying outside of the gender and sexuality binaries. This research will provide important information on one of the ways society places their expectations of a standard gender and sexuality on people. If there is a relationship between gendered toys and a person’s place in gender, it can lead to discussions on how more gender neutral toys can begin to alleviate some of that pressure and how to help a person feel comfortable in their own identity. As many people who struggle to fit inside their expected binary face negative emotional, physical, and social effects, such as isolation and violence, finding the root of the expectations will make this society safer for everybody. Even the information provided by those who fit inside their gendered boxes will help us see the socialization effects of gendered toys. This information will be able to open up discussions and future research topics on what is categorized as a gendered toy and more in-depth research on the influences these toys have on gender teachings. If this study, and similar studies, concludes that there is a clear correlation between gendered toys and how people feel about gender, there can be a push for more gender-neutral toys available to
