In what areas do children and adolescents define their self-esteem?
Children and adolescents define their self- esteem in the terms such as social, academic, physical, and more factors. In social self-esteem they look to their friends and family to feel accepted and feel confidence in themselves. Children and adolescents ultimately want to feel accepted in the end.
What can a parent do, in the first two years of their child’s life, to help the child develop good self-esteem?
In the first two years of a child’s life to help the child develop good self-esteem a parent can set up trust and love around them. A parent can also have a strong bond with their children; can help your child be identified as a leader later in childhood.
What are some things that have a negative effect on a child’s self-esteem? How are children affected by these factors?
Some things that have a negative effect on a child’s self-esteem are lack of supporting and loving relationships, or being disabled mentally or physically because they don’t feel like they are good enough compare to everyone else.
