The Greeks were well known for their ever proportioned statues, orange and black painted pottery, and mathematically symmetrical architecture with the use of columns. Greek art first became known during the Geometric period. During this time, many of the artworks created by the Greeks were rigid and strict, much like Egyptian art. Patterns of this period were angular in nature and people were often depicted as stick figures (“Greek Art”). After the Geometric period came the Archaic period.
