Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968) was an American author, political activist, andlecturer. She was the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. The story of how Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language, allowing the girl to blossom as she learned to communicate, has become widely known through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker. Her birthday on June 27 is commemorated as Helen Keller Day in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania and was authorized at the federal level by presidential proclamation by PresidentJimmy Carter in 1980, the 100th anniversary of her birth. Helen Keller was born with the ability to see and hear. At 19 months old, she contracted an illness described by doctors as "an acute congestion of the stomach and the brain", which might have beenscarlet fever or meningitis. The illness left her both deaf and blind. At that time, she was able to communicate somewhat with Martha Washington, the six-year-old daughter of the family cook, who understood her signs; by the age of seven, Keller had more than 60 home signs to communicate with her family. In 1886, Keller's mother, inspired by an account inCharles Dickens' American Notes of the successful education of another deaf and blind woman, Laura Bridgman, dispatched young Helen, accompanied by her father, to seek out physician J. Julian Chisolm, an eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist in Baltimore, for advice. Chisholm referred the Kellers toAlexander Graham Bell, who was working with deaf children at the time. Bell advised them to contact thePerkins Institute for the Blind, the school where Bridgman had been educated, which was then located in South Boston. Michael Anagnos, the school's director, asked former student…
great work from person who has this handicap as a normal person .This thing make this person under strong stress .Moreover, this leads them do anything above their ability. ’I did not know what the future held of marvel or surprise for me’ ’side Helen Keller ‘’part I. The story of my life’’. When she mentioned I did not know about future this means unlike her teacher, she does not have pressure to do something big just best what she can do. For example, there is a small plant grew between rocks and…
Response Paper: Helen Getty Villa
Watching the Helen production at Getty Villa was a very enjoyable experience. Coming on this fieldtrip without much information on the show we were going to watch, it was a great surprise to learn that it was a new modern adaptation of the traditional Helen play. The location, time and setting of this play was ideal in trying to create an atmosphere that was similar to the way plays were watched in ancient Greece. That was a cool touch.
So after having watched…
Helen Clark was the eldest of four daughters of a Waikato farming family. She graduated, at the University of Auckland, with a BA (Bachelor’s Degree) in 1971 and an MA (Master’s Degree) with First Class Honors in 1974.

In the poem To Helen, Edgar Allen Poe writes from the point of view of a sailor who is sent to save the beautiful Helen after she is abducted. Hilda Doolittle writes the poem Helen from the point of view of the women who are left behind while their men are saving a woman who caused a war. Both authors express the feelings of their respective genders toward Helen, whether it be loving or hateful.
Helen of Troy was known for her beauty, so when she was abducted, the Greek men would have done anything…
I am not always a writer. The idea of using writing to express myself has always proven difficulty.
Using writing to express, feelings, thoughts or my perspective on “things” has never really worked out. I cannot express myself through the ink of my pen or the graphite of my pencil; but rather through the tone and sounds of my mouth. I could talk for hours with expression and emotion but writing how I talk has never been easy for me. It is as if my hand is limited to what I express…

1) What is your assessment of Brodsky’s performance? Please be specific. The first point of concern regarding Brodsky’s performance that I saw was Keller’s description of how long it took Brodsky to complete a project or task. As Keller highlighted Brodsky’s great analytical skills with regards to how he redesigned the sales force organization and the development of a comprehensive set of information and control…
