The way we live is considered high class in other countries even if we are not rich.(hook). In the article Her Other Son, the author demonstrates how different people lives are because of money. The article is about a wealthy family who has a maid that is from a different country trying to work to provide for her family.(background info) The maid is not wealthy and sees other people as rich people.(CM) In the article the maid received a fifty-five gallon barrel from the family which she used as a shower(18).(CD) That shows that not everyone has the luxury of having a regular shower with hot and warm water. “At least you have a bathroom”(15)The maid said because she did not have on herself.

In the article, the maid also receives many more things.(TS) The maid was gifted a camera for christmas since she loved to take pictures. “Mom and Dad buy her a 35-mm pocket camera one christmas”. She did not have the money to buy a lot of things so many things were given to her.”Over the years, whenever George and I outgrew our clothes, they were put in plastic bags for Catalina to take home.”(17) The maid would get old clothes from the family to provide clothes for her family and herself. She was also given old furniture(21). The maid was very grateful and did not take anything for granted.(CD)
