Hernán Cortés was born in 1485, into an upper class family even though his family was not very rich. As a child he was considered very bright and when he grew older, he was known for his bravery and his extraordinary leadership.( Szalay, Jessie. “Hernán Cortés: Conqueror of the Aztecs.” LiveScience, Purch, 28 Aug. 2013). He had quite a bit of impact on the exploration. He conquered the Aztecs, colonized much of Mexico, and also helped colonize Cuba.

Cortés went on an expedition with Velásquez, when Velásquez conquered Cuba, he became Governor. He wanted to help Cortés rise in government, so he did and Cortés became a powerful and rich figure on the island of Cuba. It quickly became the greatest city in the Spanish Colonies and many Europeans went to live there. The outcome of his success, King Charles I of Spain chose Cortés to be the Governor of New spain. Later , Cortés was told that he is not Governor of Spain anymore and that he had to defend himself. After that he went on another expedition that was unsuccessful to Algeirs where he almost drowned when his ship sunk. In conclusion Cortés had a lot of impact on the exploration. He was a very strong and smart man for conquering the Aztecs, colonising some of Mexico, and also helping colonise Cuba. There was probably much more that he did, but what he did by conquering the Aztecs was one of the biggest impacts of the exploration. I think that Cortés had a great impact on the exploration because he accomplished a lot. He was wise and strong man and was a fantastic leader. He did what he had to do and he did it
