Napoleon Bonaparte was a young French military leader turned self-crowned emperor of France who conquered many nations throughout Europe for the sake of turning France into a stronger empire during the early 1800s. He gained popularity across Europe for restoring order and prosperity after the French Revolution and was supported by people of all social classes. By 1814 he became the most powerful man in Europe, but was ultimately defeated by the Russian Empire after a failed invasion that forced him to abdicate.
