Peter the Great was born on June 9, 1672 in Moscow Russia. Peter the Great was known for his widespread reforms, but most importantly he was known for his reform to make Russia a great nation and give it great power. Peter the Great found numerous ways to make Russia a great power.
Peter the Great and his brother Ivan had together both ruled. However, when his brother Ivan died Peter the Great was then pronounced that he was now sovereign of Russia. Peter then realized he had inherited a poorly developed nation that needed a lot of work to be done for him to make a great nation, with great power.
His fist reform was the military reform, where he there decided he was going to expand Russia’s army and create a navy that would be good and sturdy by making his army more modern and meeting the Western standards.
