“¨The education of man is never complete until the day he dies.” -Robert E. Lee. This quote explains how Robert E. Lee thought. He was a war general and he felt that every day he learned something new. Throughout the war everyday was different, he could not be certain of what would happen during the war or even when it would occur. He lived a very eventful life and he left a very big impact on the civil war and the events leading up to it. Robert E. Lee was born on January 19th, 1807. He was born in Stratford Hall Virginia. At the age of 18 he started getting very serious with his work. Later on he got accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point. He even graduated second in his class. At the age of 24 he got married to Mary Ann Curtis Lee. They moved onto have seven children; three boys and four girls. In late September of 1870 Lee suffered a severe heart attack but quickly recovered. Next month on June 12th though, he died. His last words were said to be “strike the tent”. …show more content…
John brown was an abolitionist so he wanted to end slavery. He planned an attack on the South but the day before the attack occurred word got out and spread around the town. A group of U.S marines led by Robert E. Lee showed up in the morning prepared for the attack to happen. The soldiers overran brown and all of his other men. Brown was then brought to the gallows and was executed. If it wasn’t for Robert E. Lee the raid may have gone very
