1a) The thirteenth amendment banned slavery in the United States. This is important because it brought an end to an unspeakable act. This was also one of the first steps by the American government towards equality for all.
1b) The twenty-sixth amendment allows citizens 18 years old and above to vote. This is important because it allows the younger people that will have to grow up through the elected officials term the right to be able to choose their own leaders.
1c)The nineteenth amendment allowed women to vote. This is important because women are an important part of this country. Giving women the right to freely express their political opinions makes our elections fair and as open as possible.
