The Columbian Exchange is a very important event for Europe and the newly founded Americas. It is named after the one who founded the Americas for Spain, Christopher Columbus and have expanded ideas, food, animals, and religious views for both Europe and the Americas. The Europeans did many things like colonized, change the society of the Americas, and took and gave something to the new world.
The Columbian Exchange benefited mostly for the europeans than the Native Americans like the Aztecs. When the Europeans came over they brought many diseases like Smallpox that defeated the Aztecs as they tried to fight off the Europeans. The Europeans also brought over many animals, food, plants, insects, and other vital items that we could identify now. The animals they brought were horses, cattle, swine, and chicken. They change the Native Americans views on religion also. The Native plants there in America were pretty great and they brought diversity to Europe. In Europe at that time, they had no spices for their food and the people craved flavor and the only place they knew they could get some spices was India. The trip to India took too long and it was very dangerous. Christopher Columbus tried to find a different route and ended up finding the Americas.
