The industrial revolution changed society greatly at the time and affected women the most. It changed the way women at the time lived and how they woman's role altered in the household. Working environments changed for woman at the time and how they were seen socially. The ways the Industrial Revolution affected woman was noteworthy, anything from how their living conditions improved to how the way they worked changed even the way women's rights were revolutionized. The Industrial revolution changed they way women lived at the time. Women were moving to cities to earn more money for their families. The wages set in these factories were 1.00 to 2.00 a week, this was much more than they could earn in their hometowns. This allowed them to help men in paying the bills and allowing for a more stable household. Woman were having children and having more of them live due to inventions of the time. Thanks to the steam engine, used by trains, and the mass production of food and clothes women could clothe and feed their children better and more easily. Woman used to have 6 children and having only 2 of them live to adulthood. Improving conditions led to higher birthrates and a higher population. Women's wages were lowered drastically. Before woman went to factories to work they worked from home and, for example, made cloth. This was a lengthy process but per cloth it paid well. Since more children were being born and more people came to work in the factories the wages got lower and lower. Factory owners paid less for more work and could get away with it. Woman only made one third of what men made weekly. Working conditions were terrible and unsafe in factories. Some women worked 10 to 14
