Thomas Jefferson was born into one of the most prominent families on April 13, 1743. He was the third born out of the ten children of Jane Randolph and Peter Jefferson. In 1760 he attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. From 1767-1774 he practiced law with incredible success. During these years he fell in love with Martha Wayles Skelton and the pair married in 1772. The two lovebirds had six children but only two survived adulthood, and only one survived Jefferson’s passing. Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States of America from 1800-1808. Thomas Jefferson died peacefully in his bed at Monticello on July 4th of 1826.

Jefferson has made a big impact on how America has turned out- many people look to the Declaration of Independence to show how the original colonists wanted life to pursuit here. The Declaration of Independence states that all men are created equal, although that is not how we treat the people around us. Although women have come a long way from what they once were, we still have a long way to go till we are looked at as equals among men. People of different races are also prejudiced against even after all this country’s gone through. Even though we don’t segregate like we once did, colored people are judged and treated differently because of the color of their skin. Even though there are many things going on right now that don’t follow the Declaration of Independence, one day America will look like what the founding fathers had
