Imperialism How did imperialism impact India and Africa even after they gained independence? India experienced both positive and negative effects of European control. On the positive side, they benefited from improvements in transportation, such as railways, and medical advances. However, their political structure was greatly impacted by European control. Africa, on the other hand, faced many negative effects from European imperialism, especially economic struggles. The Europeans would enter African countries, take over, and exploit their natural resources without providing any benefits in return. I found many websites just by searching for these questions. One site I found was the article 'British Raj and the Scar of Imperialism' about India's transition to independence. The website explains India's laws and regulations. But most importantly, they were influenced by British colonialism and Westernization. After that, I researched more about the impact of European imperialism on agriculture in Africa and India. Which came up with the site Britannica? The main effect imperialism had on Africa was that it damaged it agriculturally. Imperialism changed farming in a way that benefited Europe by exporting natural resources. The governments took over much of Africa's land for their own personal or commercial use, like farming, but mining was also involved. They also impacted Africans' lives by causing political, economic, and cultural damage. They used Africans as cheap labor, which caused forced labor, and African men were separated from their families because only men were used to working on farms and
