SURFACE MINING IN AUSTRALIA AND CHINA

Mining is a form of extraction where raw material is taken away and repurposed for [generally] human activity.

IMPORTANCE OF MINING

Mining is important for many countries, it helps them maintain and improve upon their livelihood and way of life. It is said that materials that cannot be grown must be mined and there are many everyday items that do not grow from trees including thermal paste, fans, laser, charcoal, and many other goods and services that consumers enjoy. mining has also pushed the world forward time and time again with the stone, bronze and iron age being perfect examples of this. Mining also provides employment, dividends, and large amounts of taxes for countries that are over flowing

The earth has a great number of valuable metals and minerals including diamond, coal, gold, silver, copper, and tin. But mining can also include the extraction of oil and natural gas. Australia is estimated to have about 3.9 billion barrels of reserved crude oil which is about 0.2 per cent of the world's total and manufactures about 180 million barrels a year, while china is one of the world’s largest oil producer, producing about 4.27 million barrels per day, which is approximately 5% of the world’s oil. this is also a multimillion dollar industry and is why many countries such as Dubai are exploiting (make full use of a resource) it , having over 26,000 millionaires in 2014 because of the oil extracted and this number is only getting higher, but mining overall isn’t sustainable since most minerals and metals take decades to centuries to produce this can be seen with Saudi Arabia (world's largest oil producer) which is having a shortage which in basic terms mean when the quantity demanded is higher than the quantity supplied at the given price which leads to the companies/produces to raise the prices ,economically mining will collapse when there is a lack of minerals or products produced from …show more content…
as a large country, Australia is different and does not have around the same temperature throughout the year. While china varies from region to region scientist can predict fairly “well” how climate will be at what time of the year, one of the reasons this is important is because the climate of a country/region greatly affects the type of plants that grow and animals that survive because of this, the slightest change to the climate can sometimes greatly change the balance of nature. In the current century global warming is one of the biggest dangers to the planet we live in and is mainly caused by greenhouse gas pollution with coal mines making up about 12% (stationary energy sources, such as coal-fired power stations make up about 47%) this is causing immediate and direct changes to the planet one being rising sea levels, because of melting glaciers and ice caps mainly in the two poles. Melted ice increases the volume of water in our oceans. Warmer temperatures also result in the expansion of the water's mass, which causes sea levels to rise, threatening low-lying islands and coastal cities at first but china soon follows with cities such as Shanghai and Tianjin showing higher rates of sea level rise because of their increasing development of buildings and over-extraction of ground water, a study done by climate central also estimates that roughly a
