John F. Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act in 1963. To maintain the problem of prolonging gap between men and women salaries. It does not matter if you are black, or white male or female in a wheelchair or walker. If you qualify for a certain pay rate, you should receive it. Of course women still fighting the legislation for their rights to merge the gap between equal pay and benefits. There are still more to be established to help determines rights in a workplace dealing with salaries.
In 2013, it established a combination of wages and benefits by the Paycheck Fairness Act. It states that the bona fide defense shall apply only if the employer demonstrates that such factor. (1) Is not based upon or derived from a sex-based differential in compensation, (2) is job-related on the position in question and (3) consistent with business necessity makes such defense. Some jobs are non-complying with the Act to continue to underpay women. Its shows that there are still inequality and discrimination in society regarding pay for women. It still exist that many women suffered more than man. Women are considered subordinate and incapable of handling upper management duties regarding their pay rate when it's to be determined. Employers continue to discriminate against women; this is a problem that the legislationhas to address to bridging the gap, regarding salariesin workplaces, reveal discrimination that has been ongoing for many of years. This day and time it has been noticed that most households are sustain by women (single women). Women seek higher position, just as men do to provide for their families as well.It makes it urgent and deserving for Equal Pay Actto be a priority.
