In the book, the Chrysalids, Joseph Strorm and uncle Axel play an important role in the main antagonist life, David Strorm. Joseph being his strict father and uncle Axel being his uncle. Both men have different thoughts on God, The land further away from Waknuk and mutants. Joseph has a strong hatred for mutant. If he sees anyone with a deviation, Joseph will execute them or kick them out of Waknuk.
