Winning the dystopian Hunger Games takes skill, tenacity, and capacity and without that you won't win. Katniss has to achieve all of those skills in order to win the games.

Katniss takes the skills of her hunting to survive in the games. Katniss uses her great shot to get her food so she won't go hungry. On pg 241 it says, “Shortly thereafter, I discover a flock of grooslings perched in the trees and take out three before they know what hit them.” Katniss takes her dexterity of hunting into the games so she can get food to survive. Moreover, this shows that Katniss has skills that are the principles to survive the games and win. Katniss is also a great person to buy game from because she knows how to not mess it up. Katniss gets angry at Peeta and wants to execute him herself. On pg 162 it says, “I will eagerly watch the night skies for signs of his death, if I don't kill him first myself.” Katniss is angry at Peeta because she thinks that she is trying to help the careers kill her. Moreover, Katniss’s anger makes her feel that she wants to kill Peeta herself and is angry at herself because she got fooled by him. Katniss is mad at the capitol, not the boy from district 1 for Rue’s deceace. On pg 236 it says, “It’s the Capitol I hate, for doing this to all of us.” Katniss is angry because she hates that the Capitol makes them play these games. Furthermore, Katniss’s anger is more to the Capitol than to the boy because all of this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for them. Katniss cuts a piece of her shirt off to save Peeta. On pg 338 it says, “I cut free a sleeve from my shirt, wrap it twice around his leg just under his knee, and tie a half knot.” Katniss takes her resourcefulness and thinks to herself that a bandage wouldn’t be enough so she uses her shirt to tie a half knot to stop the blood in Peeta’s leg. Moreover, Katniss saves Peeta by using her vast resourcefulness and knowledge. Katniss works with what she has to help it be more pleasant for Peeta. On pg 277 it says, “I mash up a handful of berries so the taste won't be as noticeable and add some mint leaves for good measure.” Katniss’s resourcefulness helps the food taste better for Peeta so he will eat it.
