The assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. took place on April 4, 1968, which marked a crucial event in American history. MLK's death was not only a tragedy, but it was also a loss in his fight for justice. Martin Luther King Jr. was the greatest leader of the civil rights movement, but because of his death the fight for civil rights gained new found momentum.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. King started going to college at 15 years old in 1944. MLK started public speaking in the early 1950s. MLK really enjoyed public speaking and tried to make a scene in public. MLK survived an assassination attempt a decade before his death. Martin Luther King Jr. helped a lot of people and influenced young people.
