Mary Surratt shouldn’t have been executed because there isn't any physical evidence to prove she was guilty or innocent. Mary Surratt shouldn't have been executed because she only knew of the kidnap. It says in paragraph ten, it’s possible Mary knew of the kidnapping but not the plan to kill Lincoln. This explains that she only had known of the kidnap not the assassination. In paragraph five it states that she claimed ignorance of any plot to kill the president. This shows that she had no intentions of killing the president and didn't know of the assassination until she found out about it. Mary Surratt and her co-conspirators claimed her innocence
