Abraham Lincoln was killed nearly 150 years ago, but people still question who participated in the assassination. When the sixteenth president was murdered, there were many confederate suspects, among the suspects there was Mary Surratt. Surratt was a guilty conspirator in the plot of Lincoln’s assassination and was rightly put to death. She was correctly sentenced to death because she was associated with confederates and was an uncredible source.
Surratt was around confederates often. In source two it states, “Her son, John Jr , was a known confederate spy, and similar characters frequented her boarding house.” This shows that since Mary Surratt’s son was associated with confederates, she probably was associated
