Rahab was a prostitute who lived in Jerico. When two of Joshua’s spies went to view Jerico Rahab hided them from the men pursued them. And then she asked them to swear her by the God that they will deal kindly with her family. The two spices promised her and told her a sign. After that, Rahab let them go by a rope through the window and tell them the way goes back. The covenant between is if Rahab do not tell this business of them, they will deal kindly with her family. And when they come she should tie the crimson cord through the window and gather all her family into her house. If anyone in the house gets hurt, they shall be bear the responsibility for their death. The covenantal issue here is Rahab was not an Israelite, but she chooses to follow God. Then the God protected her families and her.
Achan is one of the Judah tribe. When Joshua’s people get into the Jerico, Achan took some of the devoted things and then the anger of the LORD burned against the Israelites. So the men fled before the men of Ai. Then Joshua said to God why is that and God told him that Israel has sinned because they have taken some of the devoted things. He will be with Joshua no more, unless Joshua destroys the devoted things from among him. God said the one who is taken as having the devoted things shall be burned with fire, together with all that he has, for having transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and for having done an outrageous thing in Israel. After that, all Israel stoned Achan to death, burned him with fire and cast stone on them. The covenantal issue here is if you obey the laws the God would protect you and if you do not obey the laws then God will judge you. Achan did not obey, so he was stoned to death.

Hannah is one of the wife of Elkanah and mother of Samuel. At first she cannot pregnant and then she went to Eli and asked for a child. After she worshiped to God she got pregnant and then Samuel was borne. When she weaned Samuel she lent him to the God. As long as Samuel lives, he is given to the God. In the earlier Saul defeated many enemies of his country, He united the scattered tribes, giving them greater strength. But after David came up, Saul destroyed God’s law many times. Finally he felt on the sword by himself. The covenantal issue here is when Saul follows God’s law he and his people defeated the enemies and when he disobeyed God he and his army loss battles.
Eli was the priest. He is important because Hannah asked for a child and then Samuel was born. After that Samule was following Eli for a long time and they both obey the laws of God. But the same time his two sons did not obey the God. They committed adultery with the women who served at the sanctuary entrance. Eli was worried about their behavior but he rebukes them too lightly and is unable to stop them. The sons continue in their sinful behavior. So God punished him and his family with all male descendants dying before reaching old age and being usually placed in positions subservient to priests from other lineages.
