Moving Day

She stared in disbelief. Sat at the kitchen table was a small porcelain doll. It had black glass hair and a little name tag that read “Clarice”. It looked back at Ada with its glassy eyes and a sinister smile on its face. Ada told Max, her youngest son, to take the doll out to the trash because it was creeping her out. Max obeyed and went to grab the doll, but when he did, he suddenly felt very uneasy. He quickly ran outside and threw the doll in the trash can.

As days went by, the Landons finished unpacking and cleaning around the house. Max and his older brother Cade shared a room, so they still had a few things to put away. Ada was in the kitchen putting away the dishes, when she heard the front door slowly creak open. She peeked

When she reached the door, no one was there, but the door was wide open. It was just the wind she thought, but something seemed off. She had a weird feeling, as if she was being watched. She shook the thought away and went upstairs to get the kids ready for bed.

That night, Max woke up to a strange noise, it sounded like tiny footsteps walking around downstairs. The “Tap, tap, tap, tap”. He was scared it was an animal, and tried to wake Cade, but he was sound asleep. Max slowly crept down the stairs to investigate what the tapping noise was. As he went down, the noise got louder and louder.”Tap, tap, tap, tap” But when he reached the bottom step, the noise stopped. Max carefully peered around the corner and looked into the kitchen. When his eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room, he saw the small porcelain doll sitting at the kitchen table with that same sinister smile. Max was terrified and knew he shouldn’t go any closer to the doll, but the temptation was pulling him in. He slowly walked over to the doll. He felt like his eyes were following him.
