Leah I have an eye for adventure; however where I live, everything is the same and there is nothing interesting. I have lived and Sha’arayim my whole life and all I have wanted to do is explore the world outside this casemate wall-enclosed area. The only thing keeping me from following my dreams are my parents. They always tell me, “Leah, you must not leave Sha’arayim because there are bad things going on outside of here. Egypt is preparing to have a war! You don’t want to get in the way of Egypt, they could do something bad to you!” I didn't want to get in the way of Egypt. My parents scared me too much. Besides, I didn't want them to get mad at me. My life is good and I do not want it to change. I enjoy writing in my free time because there are not many fun things to do here. My father is a potter and he always brings broken pieces of ceramics home. I am currently writing a story about a person named Eshba’al who is the son of a person named Beda on a broken jar piece. Gabriel, being the clumsy boy that he is, opened the gate to where he kept all of his twenty sheep, and about five of them ran away. That was at the time when I went to get water for my family. I saw him running across the fields and I decided to help him catch some of his sheep because he was struggling and it looked like he wanted me to help him based upon the way that he kept looking around for someone. Finally, once we caught all of the sheep and got them in their gated area, he wanted to return the favor and help me carry the water back to my house. We found many things out about each other that day; we had many similarities. I learned that I was the same age as Gabriel—15—and that we went to the same school! I thought it was very funny how I hadn’t even recognized Gabriel before. We also learned that we both love eating olives! From that moment on, I knew that we would be best
