I heard these words escape my mom’s mouth for what seemed like the hundredth time. I nodded my head, signaling that I heard her useless words. I continued to face forward, as my glance was stuck on the steel death trap that mocked me in the mere distance. The machinery shone a blood red and bright yellow, and rose high into the heavens. Horrified screams of innocent young children and their parents traveled the distance and made my eardrums ring. My mind began to race with the images of me sitting on the monstrous contraption, when all of a sudden a hand tightly gripped my shoulder. A big sign read Top Thrill Dragster. My breathing started coming in short puffs, and I closed my eyes as I stepped forward into the line. As the line continued, we found ourselves located right under the majestic mammoth.
To my left I could see the coaster about to take off. The coaster starts by accelerating to top speeds of 120mph, then the train begins its ascent up a 90-degree incline, twisting 90 degrees clockwise before climbing over the 420-foot top hat. Upon descending, the track twists 270 degrees before leveling out.
We slowly inched closer and closer to my death sentence, and time seemed to last an eternity. As we reached the front of the line, my mind raced to the beginning of the weekend. I walked into the amusement park greeted with sweet smells of food, and the amused screams of families. Kids ran by with balloons, and people on stilts would entertain anyone who came near them. I felt safe here, and I continuously found myself smiling as I rode the dozen of coasters the park provided.
As we walked near the middle of the park, I met the biggest machine I’ve ever seen. It towered over my scrawny 12 year old body, and I quickly got the chills. The coaster stood like a king in the park, and somehow people had the nerve to mess with
