This program has been challenging as well as rewarding, molding us towards our respective goals, and Kimberly, you are absolutely right, it did take us out of our comfort zone. It has made me more assertive and boosted my leader skills. I have found a new passion of wanting to mentor nursing students or new graduates in my clinical settings, and share my experience. I had the opportunity to speak to a graduating class at St. Xavier about what to expect as they enter into practice, at the end of my speech I realized that all the preparation, research and assignments throughout this program has prepared me to act and be comfortable in my new role. What nurses do impact and touch lives daily, and at the back of your mind, you are not only thinking about the moment in the classroom, the skills lab or the clinical setting but thinking about the safety of a patient, the student might take care of and what if that patient is you or your loved ones. Being an educator to me is more than teaching, it is a role that goes beyond the classroom, and we must strive to work hard to maintain the excellency and the integrity of the profession by embracing a genuine sustainable leadership style that assist and promote students and new graduates to innovate and change because they essential to the progress of the profession (McSherry, Pearce, Grimwood, & McSherry, 2012). As managers, leaders and educators, nurses must embrace all resources needed to create a healthcare delivery system that supports compassion, safety and excellence in nursing (McSherry et al., 2012). McSherry and Douglas (2011), also stressed on the fact that nurses, nurse leaders and managers and educators must keep up with trends and innovation and pass it on to ensure the profession is progressed and
