With obesity rates rising and not dropping anytime soon, something needs to change among our youth, as we are the ones who will be the future generation. If we stay on our track of unhealthy eating, we will feel like that is the norm. Once we have children, we will not limit their eating, as we did not limit ours. My suggestion is to implement a law that would give funding to states that will be paid based on the amount of students per school in that state to be used in schools and other funding for advertisements on television. Top companies like Coca Cola, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Pepsi, and Kellogg’s will make the funds possible by donating one percent of their profits to the states. I chose these few companies out of the many that I would like to list because these companies have joined the White House by pledging to reduce the amounts of calories in hopes of reducing the obesity rates of the U.S. so they must be happy to help reduce obesity even more. This money will be spent in multiple ways.

From what I have seen, our school mostly offers small apples, bananas, and sometimes oranges. We all want to eat sugars as we are genetically programed to crave sweets. I feel like students would eat fewer sweets such as cookies and gummies if they were offered sweeter and organic fruits such as mangos, strawberries, watermelons, lychee, and peaches. A survey I conducted revealed that 8 out of 10 students would eat more fruits than junk sweet food if they were offered at school. This number dropped to 4 out of 10 students (they were the same students) when asked if they would purchase the fruit. This shows that the school would need to provide these fruits free of charge like the apples and bananas. If they were to be offered for purchase, the prices of these fruits would need to be lower than the sweet junk
