In my current job I work at I just happen to work in the same department of the Ombudsman and involved with setting up the meetings with patients and their families to discuss situations that may or may not have occurred while receiving treatment and care at the facility. An Ombudsman is an advocate who investigates violation of rights. We have had several situations where mediation was needed with the patient and the facility and the physician. These meetings are always handled cautiously and professionally as well as strategically. We have to instruct the physician to enter the office through a different door and the patient and their family through another entrance and be empathetic to the situation at hand.
