Pedestrian safety can only be present when the pedestrians and the drivers are both putting forth their effort to be safe and abide by the law. Spending more money on pedestrian safety renovations and equipment is only beneficial when the pedestrian is utilizing the many tools given to them by the city. For example, if a pedestrian chooses to cross the road without using the designated crosswalk or stop light button, then they cannot expect full safety in return. This being said, if the city were to be more strict with their laws and hand out more violations to pedestrians not abiding by these rules, then it would decrease the amount of future pedestrians from violating the law.
