As I have reflected on my recent nursing education, from the knowledge and experience I obtained from classroom lectures, interactions with instructors, patients, family members, and healthcare professionals at my clinical sites, I have formulated a personal nursing philosophy. In addition I have integrated my own personal core values and beliefs. The following paper will discusses my personal nursing philosophy into further detail and as I continue to advance in my future nursing career and progress and grow as a person I plan on carrying this philosophy with me and put it into practice.
My personal beliefs and core values are compassion, authenticity, honesty, accountability, trust, and personal development. I strive to use these values and beliefs to make personal decisions and live my everyday life, developing myself further as a person and as a nurse. In addition to my core values I have also added personal health and wellbeing, it is important to make sure that I am healthy, emotionally and physically so that I will be able to provide patients with the best possible care.

Nursing is a science, an art and there is more to it than just treating illnesses, it focuses on delivering high quality patient care that is individualized to the each patient and their needs. I think it is vitally important for nurses to have the knowledge of disease process, mastery of skill, as well as the ability to see patients as a whole. I believe nursing care should be holistic while honoring patient values, beliefs and culture. Each patient should be treated as an individual and given the best quality of care possible regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or certain choices
