I believe that you should adopt from an animal shelter because you will save a life, you will get a great animal, and it cost less than buying from a breeder. According to the Humansociety.org aproximently 7.6 million compainon animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats.
When adopting from an animal shelter you are saving more than just one life. 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year in the United States according to the HumaneSociety.org. By adopting a dog or cat from a shelter you are making room for another homeless animal to get saved and potentially get adopted. The money you are giving the shelter for the adoption fee goes toward caring for the animals at the shelter. Your money will help cover medical costs, health exams and food to feed the animals. Most shelters are non-profit organizations so they can use all the money they can get to care for these innocent animals.

When adopting a dog or cat from an animal shelter it will cost you less than buying from a breeder. The adoption fees at shelters are much lower than that of breeders. When buying a new puppy from a breeder you will have to pay to get your dog or cat spayed or neutered, vaccinations, and pay for all the cleaning supplies for training your new pet to not go to the bathroom of your floor. When adopting from a shelter all of these expenses are included in the small adoption fee which is usually no more than $200. If you're lucky, some shelters even microchip your pet. This will give you the ease of mind that if your pet ever gets lost they will be returned back home and not end back up in a shelter.
