When people go to bars and drink they do not often think twice about how they are going to get home or how many lives that they can put at risk. That is when people get into their cars and they contribute to a large problem that is in the United States, drunk driving. When people are drunk they are obviously not thinking straight and they usually don’t have the ability to drive a vehicle that is capable of killing people. There is times where innocent peoples lives are taken by people think that they can drive but are actually too drunk to drive. When these people are on the road they ae not only risking their lives they are risking the lives of other people.

However, you never know if the person is going to go out and drive while drunk again. That is why I also think that after the person gets a drunk driving ticket there should be even more strict rules for the people. People do not often think about the thing that they just did after they drink and drive. If they think about it they could think that nobody got hurt this time so nothing will happen next time. That is when even more serious accidents can happen. When a drunk driver gets pulled over and gets into trouble they have to get a device installed into their car that measures their breath to see how much alcohol is in their breath. However the drunk drivers are not always required to have these devices installed into their car. That is one thing that I think should be changed with that system. I think it should be mandatory to have one of the devices put into the car. If they can never start their car again if they have alcohol in their breath than that can get that drunk driver off of the road.
If drunk drivers were not on the road in the United States the roads would be a lot safer place then they are for families. Drunk drivers are should be punished harder for all of the lives that they put in danger. Police should be on even higher patrols in more populated areas on holidays that people are drinking more.
