If you think animal testing is bad you, or your family could be one of those humans who die from diseases that could’ve been prevented. Animal research has contributed to major advances in understanding and treating conditions such as breast cancer, brain injury, childhood leukemia, cystic fibrosis, malaria, multiple sclerosis, tuberculosis, etc. and was very useful in the development of pacemakers, cardiac valve substitutes, and anesthetics. True animal lovers should be proud to support animal research.
Animals should be used to test medicines and other chemicals before humans use them. Animals should be tested on for injuries that cause death. If we find a way to prevent these injuries we can save people’s lives. Eric Pelly was an 18 year …show more content…
“The U.S survival rates for cancer increased by more than 60% between 2001 and 2007.” This percentage shows that animal testing has helped humans survive cancer. Over 7 million cancer patients every year die under the age of 40. Also, out of 182,800 women who have breast cancer, 48,000 die. Therefore, animal testing has a purpose, it provides results that save the lives of humans. Testing on animals has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments. “Researchers used mouse parts to come up with a vaccine for Ebola.” The discovery of insulin, critical to saving the lives of diabetics, was found in experiments where dogs had their pancreases removed. The polio vaccine, tested on animals, reduced the global occurrence of the disease from 350,000 cases in 1988 to 223 cases in 2012. Research on animals has also contributed to many advances in understanding and treating conditions such as childhood leukemia, multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis. It was also instrumental in the development of pacemakers, cardiac valve substitutions, and anesthetics. This relates to and supports the claim because it shows how the polio vaccine has decreased the number of people diagnosed with diabetes.
