Canada Day 2016: Celebrate with Exciting Concerts and Flavorful Food
Exploding fireworks, mouthwatering barbecue and music that make your feet dance can all be found at a Canada Day celebration near you.
On July 1, 1867, three colonies were united to become one country, which is now celebrated as Canada Day. This national holiday is celebrated throughout the country, so it is easy to find a parade or fireworks.
While you will find anything from festivals to barbecues taking place across the country, many of the largest events are concentrated within the nation’s capital Ottawa, Ontario. However, that does not mean that there are not big events in other places. This year, Canada’s birthday falls on a Friday, so you can enjoy a three-day weekend. …show more content…
There will be a 10-hour concert followed by a fireworks display that is the largest in eastern Canada. Also included is a petting zoo and horse and wagon rides. The Victoria Park swimming pool will be open all day.
Nova Scotia
Pugwash will host the Gathering of the Clans featuring sanctioned competitions in Highland Dance and Pipe & Drum or enjoy the Heavyweight Highland games exhibition. In addition to the gathering, there will be a parade, fireworks and a carnival filled with midway rides and artisan vendors in Eaton Park.
Bay of Funday is the place to be to see and hear the iconic Beach Boys where you will enjoy their classic pop music. They still sound as good today as they did 50 years ago.
For those who prefer a quieter celebration, Kejimkujik National Park is offering free admission to the park. In addition, free admission is offered at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site where you can witness the noon cannon being fired followed by a twenty-one gun salute.
