Imagine if you could sleep in until 7:30 or 8:00 A.M. before getting up to go to school. You would not like getting up crack of dawn to get ready for school. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says when you get up during your Rapid Eye Movement (REM), sleep you can wake up disoriented and confused. School should start later because it is better for kids' health, it is better for students’ concentration in class and it can improve grades.
Firstly, the School should start at a later time, according to the CDC “The proportion of students who fail to get sufficient sleep is 2 out of 3. This has remained steady since 2007, according to the 2013 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Report.” We need to fix this because it can improve grade and your concentration in class. Thirdly, according to the Brookings report, say that “later school start times create a lifetime earnings gain of $17,500 on average per student with a school system cost of $0.00 to $1,950 per student, a benefit-to-cost ratio of 9:1 or better.” This could be the difference between students never retiring or them retiring.
On the one hand, I agree with X that staying after school longer at extra curricular activities. But on the other hand, I still insist that the school could move and maybe get rid of some periods.
