Pit bulls are viewed as monster dogs that will bite anyone that crosses their path. This is not true! Pit bulls are affectionate dog breeds unlike what the media says about them.
James Cross and his article, The Media And The Pit Bull, gives research on why the pit bull is not tolerated. Pitbull_lover’s blog Pit Bulls Haven’t Always Had a Bad Rep gives some background on this spectacular breed. Pit bulls are loving family dogs that have a noble history, yet gained a damaged reputation because of false accusations. The news has mastered covering serious dog attacks, but those reports are not always true. Sometimes the news will only cover this breed of dog instead of others with a better reputation, which casts a shadow on their true temperament. The news has a tendency to record attacks by muscled, shorthaired dogs and classify it as a pit bull when it might not even be related to the breed.

Dogs like the American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, and Staffordshire bull terrier are small parts of the breed. Some breeds, such as the boxer, mastiff, and bulldogs are often mistaken for the pit bull.
Pit bulls are noble dogs that have helped fight wars and hunt animals. The breed was one of the most popular breed in America around the early 1900s. If America didn’t have the pit bull, the K-9 Corps used in the U.S. Military would not have existed. Their history means that the pit bull is bred to be strong and muscular, and sometimes look intimidating. Pit bulls should not be judged by their appearance, it matters more what they do than what they look like.
The main reason why these dogs are seen as “dangerous and mean” is because pit bulls are discriminated against other dogs because of stories. False stories should not impact opinions on this wonderful dog breed. They were bred for a reason and should be loved by
