Police Body cameras

Cop are all around us, they work day and night protecting and serving the community. There is distrust between police officers and the community and we need to fix it. This distrust is highest in the African American population. Police brutality causes most of the distrust because these people that are supposed to be protecting and helping are in some cases are actually hurting and killing the civilians, There is also violence against police officers that creates this situation worse because people are killing officers and then the officers have to make sure they are alert and know what is happening around them. Some negatives of police body cameras is that the cameras have to be turned on, this means if the officer does not turn on the camera before a confrontation then none of it is recorded, there is a little time recorded before the camera is turned on but it is only thirty seconds and has no sound so it might not record the part where the confrontation occurred or what caused things to unfold. A negative about the cameras is that they always need to be charged but the officers can’t be always connected to the charger. Some people think since the camera is only showing the cops point of view it is biased and not a good way to show if the officer’s actions were justified or not. Also some sources say that instead of calming the officer and citizen they cause violence against police officers to go up instead of it causing people to be on their best behavior. There is ways to fix some of these problems such as using a camera that has a long battery life and is always on, you could also do a study to find out if it causes more violence and if it does find a way to lower it because the cameras are a major factor in helping heal the rift between police officer and the community by providing evidence that can lead to the officer’s arrest for doing something they shouldn’t have been doing
