Church Teachings of Abortion Abortion is a controversial topic to discuss. We all know as Catholics where the Church stands for abortion. It’s very wrong and goes against what God wants for us. The Church disagrees with abortion because we believe that human life starts the moment of conception, while others believe it isn’t considered a baby at the time. Many women and men also think that it should be legal because it’s the woman’s body and she should have the right to do whatever she wants with it. They also think that it isn’t considered a baby until the infant has developed all of its body parts. It’s unreal as to how people can think it is okay to take an innocent child before it even had a choice to do anything. Many babies are aborted every year to careless teenagers not ready to have a baby; they were just being reckless and having fun. How abortion hasn’t turned illegal is by far my knowledge. There’s numerous books out there on how abortion as well as on the web, and even in diaries of women who have either undergone an abortion or who have thought about it greatly. Dating back abortion has been around for awhile yet somehow it is still “okay” too many people. It’s discrimination to God and kills the human population more and more each year.

“2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.”1 A baby’s life starts the moment of conception. Others think it’s when the baby actually starts to grow but that’s not the case. As a Catholic, you grow up learning when it’s actually considered a baby. You’re also taught that killing anyone is a mortal sin, abortion follows along with that. A human life is precious especially one still in the womb. Growing up it has always been taught that any life is sacred and we should respect each and every life. It seems to be more often that younger teens are getting pregnant because of stupid choices and don’t want to have to deal with the consequences. Their logic is if I have an abortion now then nobody will ever know I was pregnant and I won’t have to deal with the child. Yet that’s greatly damaging our population. Certain peoples bad choices results in a diminishing population. The amount of babies that have been killed from abortion is insane. First of all to kill an innocent baby because you messed up is absurd. If you think about it that baby could have invented a cure for some terrible disease. We don’t know that nor will we ever know that. Regardless if that baby would come up with a cure or save someone, they are important. Every life in Gods eyes is important and we need to give those babies respect. It’s not fair to them that we just kill them because we don’t want them. Our society just thinks of abortion as their plan b in case they screw up. Abortion has been around as long as I can remember. Sometimes it’s still hard to grasp the fact it is still legal. People who believe in abortion think that it should be your choice what you do with the baby. They also believe that because it’s the mother’s body she should have the right to do whatever she wants with it. Yes, I agree you have the right to do whatever you want with your body, but to kill an innocent child? In my mind that’s a little too far. If you simply weren’t ready to have a baby then you should have thought what your consequences would have been. Teenagers are the biggest culprit of abortion. “About a quarter of all teenage pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion.[1] Four in five (82 percent) teenage pregnancies are unintended, and two out of every five (37 percent) unintended teen pregnancies in 2006 ended in abortion.[2] Teens may choose to have an abortion because they have concerns about how having a baby would derail important goals (for example, completing their education); they
