A mini-proposal was laid out for an exploration issue or inquiry by a qualitative research method. Emphasis placed on a precise definition of the phenomena investigated, referenced procedures and methods for the investigation, and detailed description of the form and substance of the proposed findings of this mock study (NCU, 2015). The purpose of the discussion paper is to describe what was "learned" based on the mock studies proposed in Sections 1 and 2.
In perusing the week by week assignments, the learning results found amid the initial two weeks are both the same. Utilizing the information provided, students could diagram a research project concentrated on a particular issue or address and use a particular qualitative method. An individual could thoroughly analyze qualitative and quantitative research methods and addressed the qualities and shortcomings of applying qualitative methods rather than quantitative techniques to answer the proposed exploration question. The primary lesson learned makes the process as transparent as possible. Qualitative data analysis involves the identification, examination, and interpretation of patterns and themes in textual data and determines how these patterns and themes help answer the research questions (Analyze Qualitative Data « Pell Institute, 2015). Qualitative analysis is not guided by universal rules, depending on the evaluator and the context of the study, and is likely to change and adapt as the study evolves and the data emerges (Analyze Qualitative Data « Pell Institute, 2015). Quantitative results provide the researcher with hard statistical data points to validate and generate theory.
