The quinceanera traditionally starts with a religious ceremony, which is used to celebrate a young 15 year old into becoming a woman. The event is usually held at a hall or in a big building. It includes music, food, and waltz. The waltz is a specific dance that is done at the quinceanra that the dad and daughter do to begin with then everyone dances. At the quinceanera has her own “court” that dances with her at her party. It is very appropriate that the girl that is having the party, to have specific friends called the “court court of honor.” She has specific people that share the spotlight with her. There are so many different traditions that go on at this party, the most common ceremony is the changing of the shoes. The father or chosen male takes her slipper of such as a flat shoe, they take it off and put a high heel or a shoe with a heal showing she is turning into a women when she turns 15. Another one is the kneeling pillow, it is placed for her to kneel on during the ceremony. They aslo give the girl jewerly such as: ear rings, and braclets uasully diamond showing she is a woman now. They use champain glasses to drink out of and to toast to the Quinceanera. As i mentioned in the beginning the “last doll,” it represents the ending of her childhood so it is gave to her telling that she is woman now. The Quinceanera gets so many gifts that are given to her but are also very expensive, a tiara, cross, medal, bible, and prayer book, and a scepter. The guests of the event will consists of bothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and very close friends. It is a very wide range of family not just immediate family. The Quinceanera is a very fun and exciting party that is a great way for the family to celebrate their child to becoming a woman. Although the Quinceanera is a VERY expensive event to have it is thrown for a good reason and is still celebrated
