The movie, Real Women Have Curves is about two sisters, Ana and Estela who live in Los Angeles, California. In the movie, both sisters end up working together which leads them to learn about each other's struggles. Ana learns about Estelas hardworking job and Estela learns about Ana's dream of going to college. Not only was working together a way for them to learn about each other's struggles, but a way for them to learn about their differences and similarities. It helped both realize that they are more similar than different because of how accepting and determined both of them are.
A difference that sets Ana and Estela apart is that Ana is very outspoken and Estela isn't. Throughout the movie Ana expresses her opinions no matter who she's with or what situation she's in. An example that proves this is when Ana spoke to the the executive in charge of Estelas clothing line to grant her sister an advance. In this situation Ana noticed that Estela will be struggling to pay the rent and her workers in time, so she was the one who spoke up for her. Even though the executive refused Ana was still brave to try and express how she felt about this situation. Other examples of how Ana is outspoken include her mother, Carmen. One of the similarities between Ana and Estela is that both of them are very accepting. Ana shows that she's accepting because she accepts the fact that her parents aren't letting her attend college. Even though she really wants to go she doesn't start yelling or getting mad, she just agrees with them. In the movie, Estela shows that she's accepting at the fact that she's loosing workers like her sister. She could've not let Ana go to college by saying that she needed her help in the sewing factory, but instead she wasn't selfish and she accepted the fact that Ana was going to go to college to get a better career than
