In the novel Life of Pi, the character Pi goes through a series of cultural and environmental elements that impact his behavior.

Pi is an extremely spiritual individual and he picks up multiple religions throughout his life. He is born into Hinduism, his family’s religion, but later on adopts both Christianity and Islam. Pi believes that “...religion is about our dignity, not our depravity”. Religion is a concept that Pi depends on while he is stranded in the Pacific.
