Perspective
The Renaissance is often described as “an explosion of cultural sophistication in the arts, literature, and science” (Emmons par 1). It is also credited for being the prerequisite for the Scientific Revolution and the foundation of modern society (Emmons par 1). The meaning and effect the Renaissance had is based solely on the interpretation of the individual. The details of the time period change as new evidence presents itself (Emmons par 3). Items such as artifacts, relics, and writings could change the known history of that time period. These items contribute to the meanings and emotions of the Renaissance. After the Medieval times were over, the nobility lost power, the plague undermined the old order, and the Catholic church schism dampened church authority(Lee). With Florence being the largest city in Europe during that time, it was the political, economic, religious, and cultural capital of Europe’s most populous and powerful country. One of the factors that contributed to the rebirth of Europe was Italy’s location. Due to the fact that it extends well into the Mediterranean Sea, Italy became a center of trade with the east between the Muslim empires and Europe(Lee). It is later that this connection allows for the exchange of influential studies and writings from Arab sources to enter into Italy where they were then translated into latin. The ideas and mindsets behind it brought people from all over Europe who came with wealth and knowledge and further exposed people to foreign ideas(Lee). After, the foreigners would take what they've learned from art, works, scholars, etc. and share them with their home country, boosting further developments.
Scholars across Europe would each contribute their individual theories and research to those of other scholars and create the foundation of modern society and science. Names like Angelico, Boticcelli, Da Vinci, and Donatello are all linked to the Renaissance(Lee). Much of the ideas and inventions developed during this time are implemented into modern times. Without the scholars of that time much of today's society would not be possible.
Altogether, Italy was one of if not the most ideal place for the rebirth of Europe to begin. It had the perfect location, a high population, culture, high concentrations of people, all things that a new lifestyle/mindset such as humanism would need to flourish and spread. The events that occurred effected future developments and made their way into history books. Due to all of the contributions made during that time, it has laid the groundwork for much of modern
