Ocean Pollution
What is Ocean Pollution? Ocean pollution is two different things. The first of the two is nonpoint-source pollution. Nonpoint-source pollution is pollution that doesn’t come from a specific source. Some examples of nonpoint-source pollution are;fertilizer,grease,etc.The second thing ocean pollution is point-source pollution. Point-source pollution is that comes from a direct source.Some examples of point-source pollution are;sewer outfalls,discharges from wastewater treatment plants,etc.

What Ocean Pollution Ends up in our Food? A lot of the food we eat comes from the ocean,so I wanted to know how ocean pollution pollution ends up in our dinner and snacks.The food from the ocean that we eat is super harmful and chemicals via toxin-laden seafood, including mercury and PCBs. These contaminants, among others, have serious developmental implications. Polluted water transfers water-borne diseases and toxic chemicals. Every year, more than 3.5 million people die from water-related diseases.

How does Ocean Pollution Affect the Economy? Ocean pollution is affecting the global economy. One of the way it affects the economy is by the trash floating around in the ocean. This affects the fishermen because the nets get stuck on the trash. They spend 1-2 hours a week

First of all you can pick up trash that you find on the beach or join a beach clean up. Secondly install a water efficient toilet. In the meantime, put a brick or 1/2 gal container in the standard toilet tank to reduce water use per flush. Minimize the use of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers. Do not dispose of these chemicals, motor oil,etc into the sanitary sewer or storm sewer systems. Both of them end at the river. Which then leads to the ocean.
