Throughout the immensely long history of Judaism, women have always and will always be a major part in the religion. To go into further depth of this topic, we will elaborate on three main topics. The topics in order are women’s contributions to Judaism, Judaism’s view on women in general, and the role of women. Women have made a great deal of contributions to Judaism and have been major leaders throughout history. Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan are just two of many well know Jewish leaders. These women have been major voices for feminism and the equality of women. Many other women in Judaism have made lasting impressions on the religion. Miriam of ancient Judaism, had helped to free the children of Israel. Women have also been major players in scripture. In scripture, there were fifty-five prophets, and seven of those were women which is saying something during that time. …show more content…
Women are seen as very much equal to men in Judaism. Women are seen as a key piece in Jewish faith. For example, women are not required to married and have children but men are so the man really needs the woman. Men need women to complete their faith according to the Torah which would make women be revered in Jewish society. Jewish men have always seen women in a lightened way and have shown that through allowing them many privileges that women in other cultures were not granted until a few decades or a century ago. Women in Judaism have been able to own and complete transactions of property since the early times.
