When people think of the word "sacrifice", they may think of giving their own life for someone else , or a business deal in exchange for some quality time with their family, but what people don't realize is that they are making sacrifices daily without realizing it. Sacrifices do not need to be a life ending experience. On a lesser scale everyday sacrifices in order for one to achieve his/her own personal goals can be quite challenging. Sacrifices by high school students can be perplexing especially in preparation for personal goals.

Students in high school generally read and play video games a lot after school. When they are compelled to stop and do some homework it can be a great ordeal. If a student is motivated enough he will study for an hour and a half maybe two, but what if he puts a little more effort what will happen, he will probably get the better grade. While doing this what did he sacrifice? In that extra 30 minutes what could he have done in that time, well maybe he could've read for pleasure, play some video games, or he could have gotten some extra sleep before test day, but what did he do? He studied at the expense of pleasure. These are the little sacrifices that people do not notice.

He/she sacrificed sleep, a morning shower before work, breakfast, and maybe reading the daily paper, these are all examples of sacrifices in the name of responsibility to get to work
