Every day students buy school lunches in the cafeteria. Students eat the provided lunches that the school prepares for them, with limited choice in their lunch meal. Many of the options that are available to people at the school do not contain nutritious values and are not the healthiest options possible. It is important that students as well as faculty of the school receive food that improves their lifestyle, rather than imprinting on their health in a negative way. Schools should consider a change in their menu to ensure the health of the members of the school. For example, sometimes I will drink Dr. Pepper when I am doing school work at night. I usually do this to try to stay awake or to help me do my work, however this can have the opposite effect and impact me to not be able to do my work. It will sometimes negatively affect me by making me too hyper to sit still and finish my work. Many schools may have sodas in vending machines in the cafeteria, and if students are buying these drinks they may be unable to continue their day focusing after drinking a caffeinated beverage during lunch time. Schools should provide alternative, healthy drink options to students, so that they are able to have a successful school day without a sugar or caffeine rush limiting their ability to do school work. In addition, a revised cafeteria menu will provide students with the chance to start lifestyles of health and nutrition earlier in life. Numerous students know very little about health and wellness, and believe that any food that is provided by the school is valid to eat. While pizza is an acceptable choice to eat, I have only eaten the pizza lunch on select days. I know many people who buy lunch daily, which means that they are eating pizza repeatedly once a week, which is not the healthiest possible option. Some people may not be mindful of the nutrition facts for the food that is being served, and many believe that it is okay to eat whatever is on the lunch menu that day. If schools are providing foods that are undoubtedly healthier, students can start following a more consistent path of nutrition and start paying attention to what they are eating. Lastly, a more health-oriented menu will give students a chance to eat a meal that is nutritious and provides a proper source of energy. While many foods provide energy for people, students may not be receiving energy that increases their ability to work in school. Students are sitting constantly throughout the school day and must have the energy to complete their work. If students are given foods that are not nutritious or that are not providing energy, they will be unable to receive the best results in
